Abstract

Keywords: Workshop, proceedings, guidelines

1 SECTION TITLES (ARIAL, 11PT, BOLD AND LEFT ALIGNED, UPPERCASE WITH ONE BLANK LINE BETWEEN PRECEDING PARAGRAPH AND THE NEW TITLE)

1.1 Subsection Titles (Arial, 11pt, bold and left aligned and there should be one blank line between preceding paragraph and the new sub title)

Normal text should be Arial, 11pt. Please use single line spacing - do not double-space your paper. Paragraphs should be separated by a single blank line. There should be no indentation at the beginning of the paragraph. Paragraphs should be justified to both margins (Top: 5cm, Bottom: 5cm, Left: 3.5cm, Right: 3.5cm). When setting margins, please use as default A4 sized paper (21x29.7 cms).

Please do not use footers or headers. Page numbers will be inserted when the paper is published. To help the editors, eliminate automatic cross-references in the final version of your paper. Ensure that all URLs are valid at the time of submitting the paper.

Footnotes: To help your readers, avoid using footnotes and include necessary peripheral observations in the text (within parentheses, if you prefer, as in this sentence). If a footnote is needed, place it at the bottom on the page on which it is referenced .

Caption and number every illustration, figure and table. The caption should appear in 10pt Arial Bold at the top of each figure. Illustrations, figures and tables should be centered.

References should be indicated in the text with the last name of the first author and year of publication (e.g. Riecken et al, 2003). References should be listed in alphabetical order and presented as shown in the example at the end of this document. Use Arial 11-pt, single-spaced, flush left, with 6pt spacing after each reference, first line hanging by 1.27 cm.

Although you do not need to submit your paper in hardcopy, please make sure that your paper file is printable and the printout looks fine, before you submit the file.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The International Journal of Spatial Data Infrastructures Research (IJSDIR) welcomes manuscripts and accompanying graphics and illustrations on all topics underpinning the development, implementation and use of Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDIs). We encourage manuscripts from broad multi-disciplinary backgrounds including social and environmental sciences, and engineering, deploying also critical and interpretative methodologies.
  2. Prospective authors are encouraged to look at the to understand the review process and the criteria against which a judgment will be made.
  3. Submission of a paper implies acceptance of the following conditions: (i) the paper reports unpublished work, (ii) the paper is not been submitted to any other journal, (iii) the author(s) has full authority to submit the work for publication. Also, papers previously published through another publisher, either in a literal or approximate form, cannot normally be accepted. Consult the editors if in doubt.
  4. Upon receipt of an article for peer review, the IJSDIR typically will post the article on its web site under the heading "Articles Currently Under Peer Review by the IJSDIR. " In this way, the work of authors may be made available to the scientific community as quickly as possible
  5. If the authors wish to remain anonymous during the review process, they MUST clearly say so at the time of submission. If this is the case, the articles are submitted to the reviewers as anonymous submissions, and the article is NOT posted on the journal web site.
  6. Unless otherwise specified, the IJSDIR assumes that the authors do not wish to remain anonymous and will handle the review process openly, including open posting of the article on the Journal’s website. The journal is not obligated to post the article on its web site but if such a posting is made, the authors agree that they are fully responsible for the material contained in such initial submissions.
  7. The Journal has no objection to the posting of a submitted article on a university, government or non-profit organization web site with the author’s permission while the article is being peer reviewed by IJSDIR. In such a case, the following statement must be inserted at the top of the article: "Work in Progress Under Peer Review by the IJSDIR Journal. Consult for the current status of the review."
  8. All articles must be submitted in electronic format and adhere to the Article Formatting Requirements. On submittal the author(s) must indicate which Creative Commons license applies to the article e.g. "Attribution Non-commercial No Derivatives" (by-nc-nd).
  9. Submissions must be in MS Word or rtf format. All artwork, graphics, photographs, etc. should be embedded in the document at the appropriate place in the text. Being an on-line Journal, colour graphics are encouraged but please bear in mind that the larger the overall size of the file, the greater the difficulty for readers to access it or download it if using a slow internet connection. Please make sure that you have the right to use any graphic embedded in the article, and that appropriate citation of rights is made, if necessary.
  10. Reviewers will be required to submit an electronic Article Review Form to the editor. The editor will compile the peer comments received and forward them to the author(s) as anonymous comments together with the decision of the editor regarding publication Some reviewers may choose to annotate the paper directly in the digital file. If they do so, this will also be forwarded to the author(s).
  11. Authors resubmitting their paper with the modifications requested by the reviewers should indicate in a separate cover note to the Editor how they have taken the comments on board.
  12. Final accepted papers must be submitted in MS Word or rtf. They will then be turned into pdf at the JRC and posted in this format on the Journal Web site. Since there is no need to wait for paper printing of the Journal’s issues, publications will take place as soon as the paper has been accepted in its final form.
  13. Once a year, the Journal will also make a collection of all the papers published into a single pdf with consecutive page numbering.
